Before you upload texture and material files, make sure to name and archive them correctly.
Naming textures
Your file names should note where each texture belongs and what every material represents. If you name your asset files well, the buyers will have an easier time using, editing or modifying the asset and will be more likely to purchase your 3D models again.
Every part of your model (textures, materials, objects) needs to have a unique name to be compatible with different software applications that the customer might be using.
Your Materials and texture files must have descriptive names too. Never use names like IMG or, Pic or material names 01-Default, Blinn01, etc.
Archiving textures
Archive all textures to ensure that they are not recognized as preview images.
Pack all your textures, the scene and other associated files into a single archive file (.zip or .rar file formats preferred).
Here are a couple of ways you can ensure that your textures are uploaded correctly:
- Archive all bitmap textures together with each model file in a flat file structure.
- Archive all bitmap textures with each model file in a single subfolder below the main product file.
- Archive textures separately from your model files and select “Textures” as its file type in the publisher. Archive each model file separately.
Uploading textures
Upload archived textures in the same way as you would upload your 3D model files. Drag and drop them into the Publisher or select them from your computer by clicking Browse.
